Banyoles Lake and Besalú

Live the magic experience of the largest lake in Catalonia, with a length of 2, 1 km, nestled in the middle of a unique space for its geological importance, landscape and culture. Main attraction of Banyoles to enjoy a good walk on foot or by boat. We will see the old Fishing Houses, fountains like "La font Pudenta", the Weeping Willows and close to l'Estanyol del Vilar, representing one of the lake’s most romantic and unique places.

We will continue our visit to the spectacular medieval town of Besalú, declared National historical and artistic in the year 1966, the old bridge over the Fluvià river which allows the entrance to the village takes us back in time far away. Romanesque style with seven arches of angular shape makes 105m long and a 30 m tall, with the Tower included and speaks of the importance of the town in medieval times.

The town also has a Jewish heritage unique in Catalonia among the Jews. The medieval public bath, Mikva, is one of the most important in Europe and the remains of an Ancient Synagogue dating from the 13th century.

But Besalú not only offers us a journey into the past, also we can enjoy its shops with craft products like the Ratafía (liqueur made from many local herbs) and agricultural products of first quality.
