The new Perelada Ex Ex 10 has just obtained a score of 94 Parker points in the last issue of The Wine Advocate, the US magazine which is the absolute reference of wine reviews worldwide.
Perelada Ex Ex 10, which is defined as “truly exceptional”, ranks as the best DO Empordà wine. This appellation strengthens its international recognition, now with 20 wines that score more than 90 Parker points.
Known as “Parker points” after the critic Robert Parker, founder of the magazine, The Wine Advocate scores mark the who’s who in the international wine market.
The magazine now publishes a series of articles about the Catalan appellations where three Perelada wines stand out: the Empordà wines Ex Ex 10 (94 points) and Finca Malaveïna 2010 (91 points) and the Cava Gran Claustro 2009 (90 points). Casa Gran del Siurana, the cellar that Perelada owns in the D.O.Q. Priorat, also enjoys a great success with Gran Cruor 2010 (92 points) and Cruor 2008 (90 points).
In the next few weeks Perelada will launch to the market both Ex Ex 10 and Finca Garbet 2007, a wine which also got 94 Parker points in a previous tasting.
Ex Ex 10 is the tenth wine of the exclusive collection of Perelada’s Exceptional Experiences, an experimental series that includes the best wines that result from the cellar’s R+D projects. This time it is a 2011 vintage, 100% Cabernet Franc, a varietal native to the South of France which was first planted in Finca Malaveïna in 1999.
Aged for fifteen months in used barrels of Tronçais French oak, this is a wine that stands out for its red, slightly violet colour. In the nose there are fresh herbal notes, red fruits and some subtle smoked hints. This is an elegant wine: well-balanced, exotical, deep, with a fine texture and a long after-taste.
Ex Ex 10 is a limited edition of 1,960 bottles.
